Early Childhood Education

ECE classes all feature the Tools of the Mind curriculum, a research-based approach centered around make-believe play to help children develop the self-regulation skills (cognitive and social and emotional) needed to become successful learners and reach their highest potential. Good self-regulation includes the ability to stay on task, ignore distractions, hold two strategies in mind at the same time, as well as the development of self-discipline and the motivation to succeed. Teachers provide a truly individualized learning experience, understanding that our youngest students each follow a truly unique developmental path. Tools of the Mind integrates literacy, math and logical thinking foundations into theme-based play around various “units” throughout the year. Students learn by doing, and drive much of their own experience through dramatization, creative writing, and games.
