Parent Involvement

Parents, welcome to Marie Reed! Here are some things you need to know to support your child and stay informed:

  • Read through the Parent Handbook SY19-20, a great overall resource for all things Marie Reed .
  • Attendance is crucially important for learning and a requirement for grades K-5. Please ensure your child is on time to school each day.  If your child must be absent for an excusable reason, remember that a valid excuse note must be provided to Ms. Moreno no more than 5 days after the absence.
  • Students do best in school when parents and teachers form a partnership to support their education. How do we do this?
    • Home visits. Teachers will reach out in the first couple weeks before school starts to schedule a home visit to get to know you, your child and your family. This meeting is a start to forming a year-long relationship with your teacher.
    • Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) Meetings. After each of the first 3 terms, teachers host APTT meetings in their classrooms for parents to discuss what students are learning, how they can further that learning at home, and to get to know each other.
    • Communication. Contact your teacher or schedule in-person meetings whenever you have questions, concerns or just want to check in on your child’s progress. Additionally, download the Remind App and join your teacher’s class for periodic updates on what they are doing.
    • Take-Home Tuesday Folders. Look out for the green folders on Tuesdays for news and forms from the school administration and PTO. The archive is available electronically here.
