Parent Involvement

Parents, welcome to Marie Reed! Here are some things you need to know to support your child and stay informed:

  • Attendance is crucially important for learning and a requirement for grades K-5. Please ensure your child is on time to school each day.  If your child must be absent for an excusable reason, remember that a valid excuse note must be provided to the Marie Reed Attendance Team no more than 5 days after the absence.
  • Students do best in school when parents and teachers form a partnership to support their education. How do we do this?
    • Home visits. Teachers will reach out in the first couple weeks before school starts to schedule a home visit to get to know you, your child and your family. This meeting is a start to forming a year-long relationship with your teacher.
    • Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) Meetings or Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC). After each of the first 3 terms, teachers host APTT or PTC meetings in their classrooms for parents to discuss what students are learning, how they can further that learning at home, and to get to know each other.
    • Stay in touch with your teacher. Download the Remind App and join your teacher’s class for periodic updates on what they are doing. Contact your teacher or schedule in-person meetings whenever you have questions, concerns or just want to check in on your child’s progress.
    • School wide communications: Look out on Tuesdays for the Panther Post, our weekly newsletter with announcements and updates from the Administration and PTO. You’ll receive it via email and Remind.
