Serving as a room parent is an excellent way to get involved! Classrooms with multiple room parents representing our school diversity are even better! The role of room parents may vary based on each teachers and grade level needs, but may include:

• Building community within the class by creating a class roster and planning a few social events throughout the year. Events can be as simple as playground meet-ups.
• Organize teacher/paraprofessional gifts and appreciation around the holidays, for teacher appreciation week in May, and at the end of the year.
• Assist your teacher as needed. This could be for supplemental snacks, coordinating a field trip, signing up volunteers for Food Prints or mystery readers.
• Encourage participation in school/PTO events by communicating with other parents in your class.
