Spanish

Marie Reed students in the English Only program receive 45 minutes weekly of Spanish as a Foreign Language beginning in Kindergarten.  DCPS world language instruction is aligned with the national ACTFL (American Council on The Teaching of Foreign Language) World Readiness Standards, which seek to link culture and communication through language learning.

DCPS has also partnered with ACTFL to provide students with a world-class curriculum that includes all modes of language learning: interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational.

Mr. Francisco Javier Ortiz is Marie Reed’s Spanish as a Foreign Language teacher beginning in 2018.  Mr. Ortiz is originally from Spain where he obtained his teaching credential.  He has taught at the elementary and high school levels and is most recently coming from Coolidge High School.
